In-Group Navigation with the Context Menu

The Context Menu is the lefthand menu used for navigation within groups. It is customizable by Group stewards, allowing them to create a curated menu directing members' attention to what matters most.

Customization - Edit your Context Menu

As a steward, you can fully customize the Context Menu directly in the interface. Click “Edit Menu” at the bottom of the context menu to customize. Stewards can create new sections called Widgets (groupings of views) that they can name and order.

Key Features

Home Widget - Your Group’s Landing Page

The “Home” chatroom is the default landing page. Group stewards can decide what they want this page to be by clicking Edit Menu below. Note: whatever you chose as the “Home” cannot be moved or reordered Choose which view serves as the group's default home [Click on the “Home” icon on the widget that will serve as the Home / Landing page for our group]

• Change it by clicking the home icon on any view

• Note: The widget you chose to be your “Home” widget needs to be accessible in the Editing Group Menu Panel

Say you want to make a widget “Home” that is already in the context menu

• Delete it from the context menu so it appears in the Edit Group Menu panel and then click on the Home Icon on that widget

Chats

• Lists all active chat rooms

• Stewards can create new chat rooms via this widget by clicking “Add New Chat”

• Shows unread indicators

• Can be rearranged or removed

Members

• Appears by default in all new groups

• Shows member names and avatars

• Orders by Name or Location

• Click a member to view their profile, or "View all members" for the directory

Common Views

• Dynamically shows content types that exist in your group

• Includes core views like Stream, Events, Projects, etc.

• Drag widgets to this group while editing to add additional common views

Custom Views

• When Editing your Context Menu, Click “Add New View” under add Custom Views to include external links, post stream filters, or a collection of existing posts

Setup Guide

• Group stewards will see a widget including a set-up guide

• Displays remaining Group setup tasks that need to be completed

• Once tasks are completed, sections from the setup guide disappear

All View

• Access every content type, view, and chat room

• Find any content when needed

• Complete catalog of group resources

Easily Add, remove, and rearrange different widgets

• Scroll down to the bottom of the Context Menu and click “Edit Menu”

• Add new widgets by clicking on the (+) icon on the widget

• Remove widgets by dragging them to the top of the Context Menu, where it says “Drag Here to remove from menu”

• Rearrange widgets using the ___ icon, drag and move widgets to specific locations

Container Widgets

Highlight specific content with container widgets

• Create a container widget to hold specific views, chat rooms, or even an individual post that they want to highlight

• Create a container widget by clicking “Add New View”

• Click “Add Container”

  • Select if this Container is viewable by Admins or Members

• In a container widget you can add:

  • Chatrooms [existing chatrooms in your Group]

  • Custom Views [external link, post stream filter, collection of existing posts]

  • Members [of that Group]

  • Groups [that you are a member of]

  • Posts [chose from existing posts in the Group]

Use “Add New View” to add Chatrooms, Custom Views, Members, Groups, or Posts to the context menu

Click Done Editing to save your results.
