# Topics Topics are Hylo's tagging system that help organize and discover content across the platform. They use the hashtag format (#) and serve as a way to categorize and connect related posts and chats. If you add a #Topic to your posts or chats, it will show up in that #Topic's Stream, with all the Posts and Chats with that #Topic. If there is a chatroom associated with a #topic, your chat / post will show up in that chatroom. ## Creating & Using Topics * **Add a Topic**: Type "#" followed by your topic name when creating a post * **Topic Suggestions**: As you type, Hylo will suggest existing topics from your groups * **New Topics**: If your topic doesn't exist, simply finish typing to create a new one * **Multiple Topics**: Add as many topics as relevant to your post ## #Topic-Based Chat Chat rooms are created manually by a group steward and are connected to a topic. Any posts that use a #topic connected to a chat room will make it appear in the chat room if it exists. Subscribe to a #Topic to get notified when there is new content with that #Topic. ### All #Topics page You can still find the All Topics page by clicking on All Views at the bottom of the Group menu
