Setting up Chatrooms

Chat is at the core of Hylo and chat features make it easy to coordinate quickly with others in your Group.

Chats can be used for simpler, real-time communication channels for more informal exchanges.

About Chat

• Each new group will have a main chat channel, which we will call General, that starts as the group’s default view.

  • Stewards can change their home view from the Home chat to another chatroom or widget by editing their Menu.

• Chat rooms will need to be created manually by a group steward by editing their Menu.

• Chat rooms are connected to a topic and any chat/post that use that topic in that group will appear in the chat room if it exists

  • Ex: For a chatroom titled “regeneration”, any chat/post elsewhere in the Group that uses the topic of #regeneration,” will pop that post/chat in that chatroom

Creating a Chat Room

To create a chat room, navigate to Edit Menu in the Context Menu of your group. If Chat is not already in your Context Menu, add it by clicking the (+) icon on the widget. Once Chat is in the context menu, click "Add New Chat"

Deleting a Chat Room

Navigate to Edit menu in the Context Menu. Click on the icon adjacent to the chat room to drag it to the top where it says "Drag here to remove from the menu".
