Customizing your Member Profile

Creating a rich member profile builds trust and helps users connect with others. This is the most important first step upon joining Hylo!

To customize your profile, click on your photo icon in the upper left corner of Hylo and scroll down to edit profile.

Profile Photo and Banner Image

Add a profile photo to help others recognize and connect with you. A photo builds trust and makes your presence in the community feel more personal and authentic. You can also add a banner image to showcase your interests or work.

Tagline

Write a brief tagline that captures who you are in just a few words. Think of this as your elevator pitch—what do you want people to know about you at a glance?

About Me

Share more about yourself in the About Me section. Consider including:

  • What brings you to Hylo?

  • What you're working on or passionate about

  • What you hope to contribute and learn

  • Your values or what drives your work

This is your opportunity to help others understand how you might collaborate or connect.

Location

Add your location so you appear on your community's map. This helps members find others nearby and builds awareness of your community's geographic reach. Please ensure that when you are typing your location that you click the location from the list that pops up.

Skills and Interests / What I’m learning

Add tags for your skills, interests, and what you're currently learning. These tags are searchable in the member directory, making it easy for others to find you based on shared interests or complementary skills. Be specific and thoughtful—these tags are one of the best ways to spark meaningful connections with others who might share similar skills and interests.

  • Hover over a skill/interest tag and double click on the “x” to delete.

  • Click on the Add a Skill or Interest button to enter a new one.

Contact Information

Add a contact email and social media links if you're comfortable sharing them. This makes it easier for community members to connect with you outside the platform if needed.
